The 4946R-001 is a relatively rare non-gemset Annual Calendar in rose gold — a reference that makes the complication accessible without the visual weight of a gem-set bezel, and in doing so redirects all attention to the dial. The chestnut ground in double satin-brushed "shantung" finish — vertical and horizontal grain crossing to produce a textile-like warmth — is unlike any other dial surface in the Patek Annual Calendar family. Applied rose gold Arabic numerals and leaf-shaped hands with luminescent coating keep legibility intact, while the apertures at 6 o'clock present day, date, and month with the quiet authority the Annual Calendar mechanism has carried since Patek patented it in 1996. The chestnut calfskin strap with denim pattern and cream contrast stitching completes a unified palette — warm, textured, and entirely coherent.
The Annual Calendar mechanism requires only a single correction per year, advancing automatically through months of 30 and 31 days while asking the owner to intervene only at the end of February. Day and month are indicated by hands sweeping across their respective subdials; the date reads through an aperture framed within the lower half of the dial. The 38mm fully polished rose gold case with non-gemset bezel wears on the smaller end of modern dress watch sizing — deliberately so, and well-suited to the formal register in which this watch operates best. The combination of warm rose gold, chestnut dial, and textured strap creates a tonal harmony rarely achieved this cleanly in a complication watch.
Through the sapphire caseback, the calibre 26-330 S QA LU is fully visible and meets the Patek Philippe Seal standard in every respect. The 21-carat gold central rotor, Gyromax® free-sprung balance, and Spiromax® balance spring in Silinvar represent the manufactory's current state of the art in regulation and shock resistance. At 319 parts and 34 jewels in a movement 5.32mm thick, the technical execution is as considered as the aesthetic one. A brand-new late 2025 example in full set.
