The Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase is built around its moon. Lange moved the display into the hour and minute circle, which gives the moon and its starry sky far more room than on a typical moon-phase watch. It sits alongside the outsize date and power-reserve indicator in the asymmetrical layout that has defined the Lange 1 family since 1994. The argenté dial is solid silver, so the surface carries a depth and softness that a plated or lacquered dial can’t match.
The 41mm case is 18-carat pink gold and only 9.5mm tall, so it stays wearable despite the complication load. The sapphire caseback shows the movement. The alligator strap closes on a matching pink gold prong buckle, keeping the piece warm and tonal from dial to wrist.
